The Business API is the preferred setup for most hotels because the integration is deeper, the messaging limits are higher, and the AI agent can take more types of action without depending on the phone-based WhatsApp Business App. You can connect a brand-new number, or you can migrate your existing business number.
Migrating an existing number does come with one catch. To connect a number to the WhatsApp Business API, that number first has to be removed from any WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business App account it's currently tied to. Deleting the number directly wipes your chat history on the phone, which is why most hotels use a workaround instead: in your WhatsApp app, go to Settings, then “Change number,” and switch your account to a fresh secondary number you own. This moves all your chat history to the new number on your phone and frees up your original business number to be connected to Visito through the API.
